Case study : Battery Pack Design

What skills are required in battery pack design?
Battery packs are, by definition, electrical devices. However, with power control, cell design and battery management technologies well developed, the challenges to create a battery pack to assembly into a vehicle are often those of good mechanical design. Such considerations may include:
- How to cool
- How to mount
- How to connect and isolate
- How to keep structurally safe
Performance Projects has successfully addressed these challenges in both motorsport and road cars, including Formula-E, all-electric hypercars and a current project on tertiary backs packs for existing diesel and petrol vehicles.
